North Miami, FL – March 10, 2025 – The Honorable Dariel Fernandez, Tax Collector for Miami-Dade County, proudly inaugurated the County's second Tax Collector Office today, less than 60 days after being sworn into office. This historic event marks a significant milestone for Miami-Dade residents, as the county now offers two locations for tax collector transactions.

The new office, located inside the North Dade Justice Center at 15555 Biscayne Boulevard, North Miami Beach, FL 33160, was previously a driver’s license service point operated by the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). Thanks to the dedication of Mr. Fernandez, the space has been transformed into a larger, more efficient area, offering upgraded technology to reduce waiting times and provide a more comfortable experience for residents. This office is now the first to transition from state control to the Miami-Dade Tax Collector’s Office, expanding its services to better meet the growing needs of the community.

In addition to continuing driver’s license and identification card services, the newly revamped office will soon offer a full range of tax collector services, similar to the main office in downtown Miami. These services include property and business tax payments, motor vehicle registration, license plate issuance and surrender, specialty parking permits, and fishing and hunting license transactions. The full-service operation is expected to be available in 5 weeks or less.

Currently, the office is honoring appointments that were previously scheduled with the FLHSMV for driver’s licenses and ID cards. Once these appointments are completed, the office will be able to accommodate new customers and begin accepting up to 20 walk-ins per day for urgent transactions or residents who have struggled to secure appointments elsewhere.

“The opening of this second office is a significant achievement for Miami-Dade County, bringing more convenience and efficiency to our residents,” said Dariel Fernandez. “We’re committed to making government services more accessible and ensuring that our community has the resources they need when they need them.”

"I cannot do this alone," Fernandez added. "This office is a reality thanks to the collaboration of hard-working individuals like Mr. Juan Fernandez Barquin, Miami-Dade Clerk of the Court and Comptroller, Chief Judge Nushim Sayfie of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, and Administrative Judge Betty Capote, who was instrumental in completing this project."

Honorable Juan Fernandez-Barquin, Miami-Dade County Clerk of the Court and Comptroller, was present to cut the red ribbon at today’s unveiling of the newly renovated workspace. “I am so happy to be here,” said Fernandez-Barquin. “This office is amazing. We’re talking about 1,100 square feet compared to the 200 square feet we had before, and we’ve gone from two employees to 7-8. The level of efficiency and productivity we’ll achieve here is phenomenal.”

With the addition of this office, residents will no longer need to travel to downtown Miami to conduct many of their tax collector and driver license-related services. This expansion is part of Mr. Fernandez’s ongoing efforts to improve public service accessibility and reduce wait times for Miami-Dade residents.
