As part of our ongoing commitment to expanding services and making them more accessible to residents, the Miami-Dade Tax Collector’s Office recently visited the centrally located City of Opa-locka. With a population of over 16,000, Opa-locka is a historic city nestled in the northwest part of Miami-Dade County, home to an airport and rich in pioneering history. It borders North Miami, North Miami Beach, and Miami Gardens—cities that have played a vital role in shaping the Magic City of Miami.
During our visit, we had the privilege of meeting with Mayor John H. Taylor Jr. and the City of Opa-locka leadership team to explore ways to bring essential tax services closer to residents. The City of Opa-locka has shown great interest in increasing accessibility to government services, and through this partnership, we aim to strengthen collaboration and enhance the overall experience for the community.
Our discussions focused on drafting a plan to establish a Tax Collector office within the city, ensuring that residents have a convenient location to handle property tax payments, business tax receipts, and other essential services. This initiative is part of Honorable Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez’s mission to meet with all 34 municipalities within Miami-Dade County and develop localized solutions that better serve our residents.
We are excited about this new collaboration and look forward to continuing our work with Opa-locka’s leadership to make tax services more accessible for everyone. Stay tuned for updates as we take the next steps toward bringing a Tax Collector’s office closer to you!
