In his ongoing commitment to improving accessibility and convenience for Miami-Dade residents, Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez recently met with City of Doral Mayor Christi Fraga to discuss how to bring essential Tax Collector services closer to local communities. The productive conversation centered on expanding services in municipalities across the county, focusing on making vital tax-related processes and motor vehicle transactions more easily accessible to residents.
During the meeting, Mr. Fernandez and Mayor Fraga explored the opportunities for streamlining Tax Collector services in Doral, a city with a dense and growing population. With many residents living in close proximity, Mayor Fraga expressed a strong interest in facilitating a process that would allow Doral residents to handle tasks like property and business tax payments, driver’s licenses, identification cards, and motor vehicle transactions right within their community. This initiative would significantly improve accessibility and convenience, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances to access these essential services.
"Ensuring that our residents have easy access to the services they need is crucial for our community’s growth and well-being," said Mayor Christi Fraga. "The City of Doral is committed to supporting this initiative and working closely with the Tax Collector’s office to make these services available right here in our city."
This meeting with Mayor Fraga is part of Tax Collector Fernandez’s ongoing efforts to meet with leaders from all 34 municipalities in Miami-Dade County. His "Crusade for Closer Services" aims to explore viable options for placing Tax Collector offices within communities, making it easier for residents to take care of important tasks without having to drive to centralized offices.
To date, Fernandez has already visited the City of Coral Gables and North Miami Beach, both of which have passed resolutions to collaborate with the Tax Collector’s office in identifying locations for new service centers. The goal is to open more accessible locations for residents to take care of property and business tax payments, renew their driver’s licenses, obtain identification cards, and process motor vehicle transactions.
"We are committed to making government services more convenient for residents. By working together with cities like Doral, Coral Gables, and North Miami Beach, we are able to meet the growing demand for easier access to essential services," said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. "These meetings with local leaders are invaluable as we continue to expand our outreach and ensure that Miami-Dade residents can access the services they rely on close to home."
The Tax Collector’s office is excited to continue this collaborative effort with Miami-Dade municipalities. As more cities join the initiative, the goal is to provide comprehensive, convenient services that make life easier for every resident across the county. The partnership with Doral is an exciting step forward, and Mr. Fernandez looks forward to furthering these discussions with other city leaders in the months ahead.
